Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke is hailing the recent upgrading of the country’s credit rating from B+ to B by rating Agency Standard&Poors. Dr. Clarke writing on Twitter, said it is useful to note that this upgrade occurs at a time when Jamaica is effectively outside of an IMF programme for the first time in 6.5 years.

Dr. Clarke went on to say that it speaks to the huge advances that Jamaica has made in reforming and restoring our economy and to the confidence in Jamaica’s economic future.

He said the confidence is based in part on the GOJ’s commitment to sustaining our reform effort, to maintaining a fiscally credible path and to continue to strengthen our monetary and fiscal institutions into the post IMF programme era.
