Contractor General Dirk Harrison is lying. Thats essentially the view of Minister of Justice Delroy Chuck in response to an angry and unseemly outburst by Dirk Harrison yesterday at a PSOJ event. Mr. Harrison angrily charged that the government is trying to do away with his office by merging it with two other corruption prevention entities.
Mr. Harrison also charged that he was not officially told of the merger or consulted in any way. But in a swift response to local media, Mr. Chuck said the Contractor General was informed by the previous Minister in the last PNP administration, at least three times. Mr. Chuck went on to rubbish the claim that the government is trying to do away with the OCG.
The angry outburst from the Contractor General came after his much publicized report into the Telecommunications license granted to CARICEL was rejected by the Holness led Cabinet some months ago. The decision infuriated Mr. Harrison to the point that he took to the airways to attack the Government.
Mr. Harrison regularly goes to the media to complain when his recommendations are rejected.
