The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) is reporting that the Economy grew by 2 % during the 4th quarter of 2018 compared to the corresponding period in 2017.

The goods producing sector led the way with a 4.9% increase.

STATIN says the positive performance was due to the increases in Mining and Quarrying, Construction, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and the Manufacturing Industries.

The Service Industry grew by 1.0% with Hotels and Restaurants growing by just under 3%.

It’s the second time last year that the Economy grew by 2 or over 2 percent.
