Kingston, Jamaica.

Only emergency vehicles must use flashing lights. Thats the word from Commissioner of police George Quallo speaking at a press conference held at his office recently.

He said only indicators should be used as blinking lights on all other vehicles.

He told media personnel gathered  that even the Emergency vehicles that use flashing lights are colour coded so persons can easily identify them. He said it is Blue for the Police, and Red for the Fire Service and Ambulance.

The warning comes in the wake of reports of criminals with flashing blue lights affixed to their vehicles stopping and robbing persons of money. A business man was said to have fallen victim to the practice.

He stated that Apparatuseses attached to any other vehicle is a breach of the Road Traffic Act and will attract a fine if the police catches anyone doing it.
