Prime Minister Andrew Holness has placed the energy portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) as the shake up of PetroJam continues. That means embattled Minister Wheatley is no longer in charge of overseeing the Energy Portfolio and thereby PetroJam.
In a release it was stated that after consultation at Cabinet, it was decided that an Enterprise Team will be put in place to oversee the strategic and organizational review of the Nation’s sole Refinery.
As to the matter of person’s nominated to sit on government boards, the release stated that the residential status of all persons nominated to boards must be stated in the Cabinet submission seeking approval. The miniMini of Finance has also been tasked to develop regulations concerning donations and Corporate Social responsibility.
PetroJam has been brought into sharp focus over many weeks since allegations surfaced of impropriety at the Nation’s only Refinery. Calls have been mounting for Minister Wheatley to resign or be fired.
