EOJ commences payment to election day workers

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) has commenced payments for Election Day Workers who served in the recent local government elections.

According to a news release from the EOJ, the disbursements began this morning and are being carried out at EOJ constituency offices islandwide as well as at the EOJ’s Duke Street office for workers who served in specialist areas in Kingston and St Andrew, and parts of St Catherine and Clarendon.

The payments are being made to people who served as presiding officers, poll clerks, supervisors, polling station security assistants, and indoor agents.

The EOJ said payments for other categories of workers and suppliers including caterers, hoteliers, proprietors and transportation providers are being processed and are expected to be completed between now and early 2017.

The EOJ said suppliers are also being asked to contact the respective constituency offices prior to going in to collect their payments.
