JLP Central Executive confirm Caretakers for next Elections

The Central Executive meeting held today at the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Belmont Road Headquarters ended with the party officers confirming four caretaker candidates. 
Senator Ruel Reid has been confirmed as the JLP caretaker for the North West St Ann Constituency. Reid, a former Jamaica Teachers Association President and former Principal at Jamaica College and serves  as the Minister of Education in the JLP administration.

Wife of West Portland MP Ann Marie Vaz was also confirmed as the caretaker for the East Portland constituency. Vaz has proven herslef to be very popular among the working class  within the constituency through her philanthropic contributions, which according to General Secretary Dr Horace Chang contributed significantly towards her affirmation.

The other confirmed caretakers were Robert Miller for South East St Catherine and Delroy Slowley for North East St Elizabeth.

Chang also stated that the party also discussed the government’s economic policy which continues to show positive indicators.

He also announced that plans commenced at the meeting for the annual conference which is to be held in November of this year along with other general party matters.

The General Secretary stated that the meeting was fruitful and that the party is particularly pleased with the economic and national security gains being accomplished by the Andrew Holness Administration.
