ST ANN, Jamaica — The Jamaica Labour Party candidate for the Moneague Division Delroy Kelly was again declared the division’s winner following a magisterial recount at the St Ann Parish Court on Thursday.

Kelly received 837 votes to beat the People’s National Party candidate Lloyd Garrick, who received 817 votes, and the independent candidate Vernon Williams who received 789 votes.

Kelly was initially declared the winner of the division following the local government election on November 28.

However, the People’s National Party filed documents earlier this week requesting a recount. Following the recount, which finished minutes after 6:00 pm on Thursday, the independent candidate picked up eight additional votes, Garrick received an additional eight votes, while Kelly picked up 15 additional votes.

Kelly was extremely happy about his victory.

“I never have any doubt,” Kelly said.

He said he is now looking forward to being sworn in to represent his division.
