JTA backtracks after backlash from Teachers

It’s been reported that the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) is now backtracking on it’s recent vote to reject the Government’s latest wage offer, after severe backlash from Teachers.

It’s understood that the Head of the JTA Mrs. Waugh-Richards has written to the Ministry of Finance telling them it is now prepared to accept the offer to pay workers retroactive money by month end. This is even while negotiations are ungoing.

The delegates of the JTA voted narrowly to reject the offer from the government by a margin of 48-40.
