LBC News Center understand that the current President of the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) might be on her way to representing the People’s National Party (PNP) in Northeast St. Elizabeth. It is rumoured that sitting Member of Parliament, Evon Redmond will not be seeking re-election this election coming.

Unconfirmed reports are that she recently met with party leader Peter Phillips and his son about the matter. The revelation if true, sheds more light on the confrontational attitude taken by the JTA head in the wage negotiation now underway between them and the government. It has led to a three day sickout now underway.

If confirmed, this wouldn’t be the first time the president of the JTA would be going into politics on a PNP ticket.
