The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus driver accused of killing a taxi operator in St Andrew last night is now in police custody.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said he surrendered to the police this morning.

The bus driver, whose identity has not yet been released, allegedly stabbed 37-year-old taxi driver Akeeno Britton, otherwise called ‘Juvenile’, several times, killing him.

According to the police, Britton was driving a Toyota Isis motorcar along Washington Boulevard in Kingston 20 about 6:45 pm yesterday, when he allegedly got into an altercation with the JUTC bus driver. The police said the situation escalated and a knife was brought into play.

Britton was assisted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident has caused Britton’s colleagues, who ply the Duhaney Park to Half Way Tree route to withdraw their service.

Investigators are asking anyone with information that can assist them to contact the Hunts Bay police at 876-923-7111, the Duhaney Park police at 876-933-4280, Crime Stop at 311 or the police 119 emergency number.
