The Ministry of Health and Wellness has announced that travel restrictions will be placed against a number of additional countries due to in-country transmission of the novel coronavirus- COVID-19.
This Ministry says the majority of cases in those countries have been due to in-country transmission.
It was announced a short while ago at a press conference by Portfolio Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton.
These countries are Italy, Iran, South Korea, and Singapore.
The Minister says they’re reviewing the situation with Japan and will advise later about a possible travel restriction for that country.
Meanwhile, there’re now two persons in isolation and for whom they are awaiting test results.
The Ministry informed that there’re now five persons in quarantine in Government facilities.
There’re also five persons in home quarantine.
As at February 26, 141 persons arrived in Jamaica who had been in China 14 days prior to arrival here.
The Ministry also says it has now designated four quarantine facilities in anticipation of new arrivals.
