Dr. Kenneth Lee O’Neil Baugh, a Former Former Deputy Prime Minister, and Foreign Affairs Minister died at around 10:05am this morning.
He was 78.
In 2015, Dr. Baugh opted out of politics to focus on his health after it was announced that he was seriously ill and was to undergo an emergency brain surgery. The operation was successful.
A medical doctor by profession, Dr. Baugh was awarded the order of jamaica (OJ) in 2016 for his outstanding contributions to nation-building.
Dr. Baugh also served as a former general secretary and chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party.
He was also a former health minister and a Member of Parliament for West Central St Catherine.
Meanwhile, condolences are pouring in for Dr. Baugh.
Across his social media pages, Prime Minister Andrew Holness expressed sadness at Dr. Baugh’s passing.
Opposition Leader, Dr. Peter Phillips also posted condolences to Dr. Baugh’s family. He said Jamaica has lost a true and dedicated son.
