Just when you thought stupidity was out of fashion , the Opposition Spokesperson on Transport, Mikeal Phillips has just shown that stupidity is still in style in the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP).
The Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) stopped accepting traffic after the Kingston Air Traffic Control Centre (KATCC) reportedly suffered damage to its radar and communication networks as a result of a lightning strike incident that occurred during inclement weather on Friday
So because of that act of God Mikael Phillips, yesterday called for an investigation into the closure of Jamaica’s airspace for more than 24 hours, effectively shutting down all arrivals and departures of aircraft.
Phillips said in a release yesterday that “the excuse of a lightning strike cannot account for the extremely long delay in getting Jamaica’s civil aviation activities resumed”.
So, Phillips has decided in his wisdom that the lightening should not be blamed for knocking out the Aviation System. He seems to think it’s the Ministers fault why the Aviation System went.
The Opposition spokesman asserted that Jamaica has the necessary professional and material resources to respond to such an incident in a much shorter time frame. He called on the minister and the JCAA immediately investigate and provide a detailed explanation of the closure as Jamaica’s civil aviation status, he said, could suffer reputational damage from this long delay in service resumption.
Micheal Phillips is really reaching for relevance and in the process exposing how stupidity is running amuck in the PNP. The report that he is asking for will just confirm that the Aviation System went because of the lightening strike. Unless Phillips is suggesting that it’s a conspiracy by the Government to shut down our Airspace.
Phillips also called for a reliable back up system to be put in place and said the focus going forward “should entail a complete overhaul of the air navigation and communications system”.
Intrestingly we had our airspace closed some years ago under the PNP administration that Phillips is a part of after a similar act of God, yet he did not see it fit to call for an overhaul of the Navigation and Communications Systems then.
The desperation of the PNP now in Opposition is getting really ridiculous and it is doing nothing to move this country forward in a constructive manner. Been stupid, us fashionable in the PNP.
A good response?
So in response to the absurdity of the PNP Spokesman on Transport, there is a response making the rounds on social media. It’s worth sharing with the Opposition Spokesman.
