The Jamaica Labour Party is today mourning the passing of Mr. Peter Fakhourie, former candidate for South East St Ann, businessman and brother of the Labour Minister, Shahine Robinson.

Fakhourie transitioned yesterday (October 25) after a long illness.

He competed for the South East St. Ann seat in 2007. While he was not successful, he maintained strong business and community links in the area and the wider St. Ann.

Fakhourie also served on several Boards such as the Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited and the Bauxite and Alumina Trading Company of Jamaica.

The Jamaica Labour Party honours the contribution of Mr. Fakhourie and supports his family in this time of sorrow.

Peter was dedicated to his family, community and country. We must recognize those who have sacrificed their own interests for the benefit of their countrymen and women. We express our sincere condolences to Shahine, his family and friends.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Fakhourie, who was born in Claremont St Ann, will be announced by the family.
