Deputy Director General of the Statistical Institute of Jamaica, STATIN, Leesha Delatie-Budair, says the manufacturing industry recorded its best performance in just over two years during the second quarter of this year.
Ms. Delatie-Budair says the sector’s 3.3% growth was driven by improvements in production at Petrojam.
The economy grew by one-point-three per cent for the second quarter of 2019 when compared to the corresponding quarter of 2018.
Ms. Delatie-Budair says there was growth in all service industries except water and electricity.
She says in the manufacturing and goods producing sector, agriculture shrank due to adverse weather conditions, when compared to the previous year.
