HANOVER, Jamaica — A motorcyclist is among three men arrested in Hanover on Sunday in connection with the seizure of two firearms as police officers conducted a vehicle check point operation.

The Lucea Police report that a group of motorcyclists was stopped about 4:45 pm on the Mosquito Cove main road in the parish.

They were searched and a Browning pistol with a magazine containing four 9mm cartridges taken from one of the men’s waistband. He along with the pillion travelling on his motorcycle were taken into custody.

Shortly after, the driver of a Nissan motorcar was signalled to stop and a Berretta 9mm pistol with a magazine containing ten 9mm rounds was seized, according to police reports. He was also taken into custody.

The identities of the men are being withheld pending further investigations.
