Former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mark Shields has slammed comments been circulated by persons on Social and traditional media platforms, that the State of Emergency now underway in St James was in response to a deadly shooting near the Sangster International Airport, in Montego Bay.

Mr. Shields used his official Twitter account, while responding to an assertion by one of his followers, to pour scorn on the assertion, saying there is no way it could have been because of the shooting, as it takes months of planning to execute a State of Emergency.

Shields who has not shied away from voicing his support for the Governments measures to tackle crime, has frequently use Twitter to make his opinions known.
