As the Government moves to beef up the capability of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), Eleven new Garbage Compacters were delivered earlier today to the Garbage collection agency.
The trucks were handed over at a ceremony held this morning at Jamaica House.
The Regional entities Southern Parks and Market (SPM), Waste Management Limited, Western Parks and Markets (WPM), Waste Management Limited and (MPM )Waste Management Limited all received three (3) units and NEPM Waste Management Limited received two (2).
The Regional Operations Managers (ROM) were delighted to receive the units.
The Executive Director of the NSWMA, Mr. Audley Gordon Challenged the Regional Operation Managers to maintain the collection schedules and work towards improving operations efficiency.
The new Trucks comes in the wake of an effort to boost the fleet to be able to have more on time Garbage pickups.
The Compacters was bought at a cost of J$562 Million.
Since the start of the Financial year, Seventeen (17) Compactor trucks have been handed over to the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA). With today`s addition brings the number of trucks handed over to the Authority to Twenty-Eight (28).
