As Dr. Peter Phillips’ future as Opposition Leader and PNP President becomes increasingly uncertain, Phillips supporters and an emerging ‘anybody but Bunting camp’ are touting 62 year old VP, Dr Wykeham McNeil as the man to stop Peter Bunting rise to the helm of the 81year old party.

Bunting’s camp are reportedly insistent that should Dr. Phillips decide to step aside, the Rise United boss has majority support among Opposition MPs and PNP delegates and will not allow the democratic process to be ignored by the ‘anybody but Bunting’ faction of the PNP.

A second tier member of the PNP secretariat is coming under fire from the Phillips faction of the party that is accusing the individual of canvassing support for Bunting should Phillips step aside.

Some Phillips supporters on the Officer Corp are canvassing support for McNeil as interim President.

The increasing feeling within the PNP, including in the Phillips camp, is that Dr. Phillips may not be able to manage the rigour of treatment combined with the intense duties with which the posts of Opposition Leader and PNP President brings, especially in what’s potentially an election year.
