Police dies after car runs into River

Riversdale St. Catherine.

The Jamaica Police Federation is reporting that one of their members has died. Mervin Augustus Ellington attached to St. Catherine North Division died a short while ago, during a motor vehicle accident along the Berwick Main Road, Riversdale, St. Catherine. 

About 10:07pm last night, Sgt. Ellington was driving his private motor vehicle from Riversdale proceeding towards Bog Walk, when upon reaching the Berwick Main Road he came upon a section where the road has broken away.

The car ran off the road and into a river where same submerged underneath the water.

Residence went to his rescue and pulled him from the vehicle, he was unresponsive.

He was rushed to the Linstead Public Hospital where unfortunately he was pronounced dead.

The Central Committee of the Jamaica Police Federation, expresses their sincere condolences to Sgt. Ellington family and friends, members of the St. Catherine North Division family and all those are mourning at this time. It’s a very sad and unfortunate situation. May his soul Rest in peace.
