Police find high powered weapons in St. James

Anchovy, St. James.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is reporting that they have seized Five firearms, including two rifles, and an assortment of rounds in Anchovy, St. James earlier today.

Five  people were taken into custody for questioning in connection with the recovery of the illegal firearms, including three high-powered weapons, and over 200 assorted rounds in St James this morning.

According to Gary McKenzie, superintendent in charge of Operations in the St James Police Division, he led an operation in the Four Road section of Roehampton, St James where a number of houses and a wide expanse of forestry were searched.

During a search of the woodlands, the police recovered four weapons, including a AK rifle, a Uzi semi automatic rifle,  a .45 Mac 11 submachine gun, as well as a .44 Magnum pistol; 231 assorted rounds were also recovered.

“Early this (yesterday) morning, about 4:30, we embarked on an operation in the Anchovy (police) area of St James. We went there in search of wanted men, in search of other criminals, as well as firearms and ammunition,” Superintendent McKenzie revealed

The find comes on the heels of bloodletting in the Parish that has sparked major concerns over the Police ability to curtail murders in the Parish.
