Three dead in illegal taxi crash

Three people are dead and seven others injured following a two way motor vehicle crash along McCooks Pen main road in St Catherine late Friday.

Reports are that at about 9:00 pm two vehicles, reportedly illegal taxis, were travelling in opposite direction on the busy thoroughfare when they collided.

Police said a total of 10 people who were travelling in the vehicles, including the drivers, were rushed to hospital where three persons, two males and one female, whose names were not released up to press time, were pronounced dead and the other seven admitted in hospital.

Reports are that two members of the security forces were said to be among the group of persons travelling in the vehicles.

State of the officers are not known at this time.
