St. Mary. Jamaica-
As the Campaign for Southeast St. Mary heats up, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Candidate Norman Dunn is hitting back at the PNP. In a Release to the Press, Dr. Dunn has labelled accusations thrown at him by the PNP as, “as desperate and vicious suggesting that he was forced to resign from the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).”
Dr. Dunn, describing himself as the only ,”Jamaican candidate in the the South East St. Mary by-election,” He said: “It’s a blatant and wicked lie. I am very alarmed and disappointed by the accusations considering that I enlisted in the JDF to be of service to my country as a Jamaican and it is among my most cherished personal accomplishments.”
He went on: “I must say it is a bit disappointing that my integrity and service to the JDF would be attacked by a party who has placed a none Jamaican and Canadian on the Ballot. My service to the JDF ended in pursuit of my business ambitions and it was my decision; I chose to leave the JDF honourably.”
The Jamaican, South East St Mary native and pharmacist by profession went on to explain that he enlisted in the JDF as an officer-cadet after completing his studies at the College of Arts, Science and Technology. He went further to state that he was an exemplary recruit and was awarded as the runner-up best recruit in 1991.
He noted that he is proud of the discipline that the JDF helped to instill in his life and that it has helped to make him the diligent and successful person that he is today.
The public rebuke by Dr. Dunn comes in wake of accusations that he was kicked out of the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) levelled against him. In a race that has become increasingly acrimonious, with questions been raised about the Nationality of the PNP Candidate Shane Alexis, accusations has been thrown all over. Dr. Dunn who is a Son of the Soil has led the charge against Shane ALexis who is a Citizen of Canada and Grenada.
