KINGSTON, Jamaica — Justice Minister Delroy Chuck a short while ago announced that the first Zone of Special Operation (ZOSO) will be declared in a matter of days.

The minister, who was addressing a sensitisation session with lay magistrates at the Justice Ministry’s office in St Andrew, did not disclose where the zone would be but, he told justices of the peace (JPs) to be on alert as it is likely that they will be called upon to act in September.

Chuck also used the occasion to address the Opposition People’s National Party, which has been arguing that the Government was taking too long to declare a zone.

“While we are not waiting until we think we get it 100 per cent right — we never will — it is incumbent on a responsible Government to satisfy itself that the significant areas of operation that have the potential of determining the success or failure of these new measures are in place,” he said.
